Years of Service
Mama Africa Pendo is a community-based organization (CBO) founded on March 15, 2015 by Mary Njeru in Mathare, Nairobi. We began as a small day-care for 9 malnourished children and have grown to support over 350 children daily with free education, empower 300+ women through micro-finance and skills training, and offer comprehensive counseling services to families in need.
100% of your donation goes directly to programs - education, women's empowerment, or counseling services. We keep administrative costs minimal. You can designate your donation to a specific program like Education, Women Empowerment, Dream with CODE, or the Elderly Caravan - or allow us to use it where it's needed most.
Yes! We welcome both local and international volunteers. Opportunities include teaching, mentoring, administrative support, skills training for women, and more. Teaching positions prefer education backgrounds, but many roles simply require enthusiasm, reliability, and a heart for service. We provide orientation and training for all volunteers.
Child sponsorship covers school fees, uniforms, learning materials, and two nutritious meals per day (6 days a week). You'll receive updates on your sponsored child's progress and photos. We currently support 350+ children aged 2-18 years with daycare through junior secondary school, plus 38 high school students and 26 young adults preparing for college.
